What Our 2026 Order Data Says About Mugs vs Tumblers

Winnie The Pooh printed 40oz tumbler with handle and straw

Quick answer: We counted every unit our top 19 sellers moved from mid-January to mid-July 2026 — 1,371 units. Three patterns stand out: 40 oz handled tumblers now account for over a third of those units, character and franchise prints drive almost half, and our namesake crystal mugs remain a steady 150-unit core. Here's the category-level breakdown and how it shapes what we stock.

We already publish a ranked list of our best sellers. This post is the other lens: instead of asking "which product won?", it asks "which kinds of drinkware are people actually buying?" — because that's the question that decides what we reorder and what we quietly retire. All numbers below are real units from real orders, mid-January through mid-July 2026.

The dataset, plainly stated

We pulled our 19 best-selling products and counted units sold per listing. Together they moved 1,371 units in six months. That's not our entire catalog — it's the head of it — but the head is where trends show first. No traffic stats, no estimates, just what was ordered.

Finding 1: the 40 oz tumbler is a category now

Five of our top 19 are 40 oz handled tumblers with straw lids — the Winnie The Pooh (323 units), Hello Kitty (107), Sally x Jack (34), Strawberry Shortcake (28), and Dr Pepper (21). That's 513 units — 37% of everything the top sellers moved. Add the 32 oz Star Wars bottle (18) and big lidded drinkware clears 38%. No other format puts five different products into our top 19; it's the clear engine of the list, which is why our buying keeps tilting toward it.

Finding 2: character prints do the heavy lifting

Group everything with a recognizable character or brand theme — the Pooh, Hello Kitty, Sally x Jack, Strawberry Shortcake, and Dr Pepper tumblers, the Star Wars lightsaber mug (30), the Star Wars bottle, and the Bearista cup (46) — and you get 607 units, roughly 44% of the total. The lesson we've internalized: people don't just buy a cup, they buy a small daily flag of something they love.

Finding 3: the quiet giant is TV mugs

Nobody talks about morning-show merch as a category, but our three TV-adjacent mugs — the Sunday Today (333), Sunday Printed (29), and Late Show (16) — add up to 378 units, about 28% of the pile. One franchise mug outsold every 40 oz tumbler except the Pooh. Fan loyalty is the most durable demand we see.

Finding 4: the crystal core holds

Our four gemstone designs — Mineral Crystal (69), Handcrafted (46), Textured Pattern (20), and Sparkling Gem (15) — moved 150 units combined. No single crystal mug cracks the top five, but as a family they out-sell most individual products. They're the store's identity, and the data says they've earned the shelf space. More in our crystal mug guide.

A counting wrinkle: sets multiply

Unit counts undersell one product: the Bohemian 6-pack logged 34 units — but each unit is six mugs, so that's 204 physical mugs in cupboards. Order patterns tell stories too: the Pooh tumbler's 323 units came from 303 orders (bought one at a time, for oneself), while the Sunday Today's 333 units came from just 215 orders — fans buy them in pairs.

The share table

CategoryUnitsShare of top-seller units
40 oz handled tumblers (5 products)513~37%
Character / franchise prints (8 products)607~44%
TV-show mugs (3 products)378~28%
Mineral & crystal designs (4 products)150~11%
All top-19 sellers1,371100%

Categories overlap (a Pooh tumbler is both a 40 oz tumbler and a character print), so shares don't sum to 100.

What this changes about our stocking

Three commitments fall straight out of the numbers: more 40 oz handled tumblers, since a third of demand wants capacity plus a handle; more character and fan designs, chosen carefully rather than broadly; and no drift away from the crystal line that names the store. Categories that don't appear here — and some don't — have to fight for reorders.

Frequently asked questions

Where do these numbers come from?

From real orders placed at Mineral Mug between mid-January and mid-July 2026, counted per product across our 19 best sellers. No estimates or traffic figures are included.

How is this different from your best-sellers post?

The best-sellers post ranks individual products. This one groups the same order data into categories - tumblers, character prints, TV mugs, crystal designs - to show which kinds of drinkware are growing.

Why don't the category shares add up to 100 percent?

Because categories overlap. A Winnie The Pooh 40oz tumbler counts as both a 40 oz handled tumbler and a character print, so the same units appear in more than one row.

Do these counts include the whole catalog?

No, they cover our top 19 selling products, which is where demand concentrates. Slower catalog items are not in these totals.

Will you update this data?

That is the plan. This snapshot covers January 16 to July 16, 2026, and future posts can rerun the same category math on a fresh window.
